Controller or Bust:

"Alright, this is ridiculous. The iPhone was introduced over three years ago and there still isn’t a game controller peripheral available to the masses. I’ve seen several prototypes that have kicked around the internet for some time now, but nobody has stepped up to the plate and actually delivered. You know the old saying, “If you want something done right you’ve gotta do it yourself?” Well, I’m going to follow that wisdom and do it myself."

While I have my doubts that anything will happen with this particular project, I can't help but hope it'll succeed and we'll get something.

Why don't we we have a game controller for the iPad or iPhone yet? Personally, I'd like something in the style of an Xbox 360 controller, but which used bluetooth to talk to the device. A touch interface just isn't a good fit with all types of games, and you can't exactly have quick trigger finger reflexes with touch either.

Update: So I've heard from multiple people now that this won't happen because Apple will not approve game controllers. SUCK. I wonder if you could get around it by making a controller emulate a bluetooth keyboard maybe? It's a lame workaround but I can dream, can't I?
