(This post is from my old, old, super old site. My views have changed over the years, hopefully my writing has improved, and there is now more than a handful of folks reading my site. Enjoy.)

So this weekend, I wrote a quick little application that would activate something in the newest version of Mac OS X- basicly it ran you screensaver as your desktop background. I called it <a href=http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=15957&db=macosx>Desktop Effects. (The link goes to Version Tracker).

I was expecting maybe a couple of hundred downloads- as of this writing I've had 2,639. Wowsers. And the reviews are mostly postive too- (4.6 stars out of 5 right now!).

It's a pretty simple app- in fact, someone else (bbum) has <a href=http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=15965&db=macosx>released another version of the same thing- (his does a bit more though- like making it run in the foreground with some transparency.)

Anyway, it's always nice to write something that people can actually use.
