(This post is from my old, old, super old site. My views have changed over the years, hopefully my writing has improved, and there is now more than a handful of folks reading my site. Enjoy.)

So you want to hear about my latest rope burn? Ok, I'll tell you about it.

Dan, myself and Mike were climbing at The Upper Limits last night, when Dan pointed out a new climb I hadn't noticed yet- A new route from Jesse- one of the uber-boulderers there. I remember him talking about it, saying he was going to put up a pretty hard one... so I thought no freaken way. But I'll try out the bottom just for kicks. So I walk up to it, and flash through the bottom without any problems at all.

... hrm, maybe I should try this one.

So it comes around to my turn to get on the sharp end of the rope, and I start climbing this new guy. I make the first clip, all is good. I get to the second clip, and I can't let go of what I'm using to make the clip, so I grab a nice big hold (off route!) to make the clip and then get back on the right holds.

Now the next clip is way to the right- so I just grab the really big hold I used before and clip it from there. So I'm to the left, and above the rope, and when I start making the moves to get past this next part.... wait for it... wait..- I fall. And the underside of my thigh got a nice big burn from the rope as I'm swinging it across the wall.

Of course, like everytime I get hurt when I climbing, I don't notice it till I get down. And now it's the next day, and I definately feel it because we can't wear shorts today at work, and it's in a very inconvenient place.

At least I finished the climb, and I even made all the moves save one at the very top that would have killed my fingers if I even could have done it.

Fun, fun.
