(This post is from my old, old, super old site. My views have changed over the years, hopefully my writing has improved, and there is now more than a handful of folks reading my site. Enjoy.)

Getting ready for work this morning, I was in my bedroom and all of a sudden the lights went out- crap, the bulbs went boom or something. Oh wait... so did the hallway... but my computer is still on. What the... ohhh yea. Horray for <a href=http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=21>APC UPS's! Saved some stuff I had been working on last night, copied some stuff to my iPod, and shut her off nice and easy.

Also, there's a great story by Glenn McDonald that talks about his recent switch of operating systems, but it goes into much more than the osx vs. windows argument, and it's really a great peice which should be read. Here's a snippet:

"The right things are never a tenth as impractical as you think, the scary changes are never a hundredth as painful. The most horrible truth is that everything trundles merrily towards hell, and the second most horrible truth is that you're probably pushing them that way by how you lean."

... read it, you know you want to.
