Holy crap- when did secure certificates get so cheap? 29.95 bucks a year from godaddy.com? What's the catch?

I just checked out Verisign's prices, and they want $895 per year for the same 128 bit certificate. And Thawte wants $199 for a year. What's up with that? Is it just the name brand that you are buying?
