(This post is from my old, old, super old site. My views have changed over the years, hopefully my writing has improved, and there is now more than a handful of folks reading my site. Enjoy.)

Some screen shots and a movie were posted recently of Microsoft's next OS, code name "Longhorn". One of the nifty new things being shown off are windows fading in and such... Hey! Voodoopad has window fade-out! But it's not fade in... and it isn't system wide.

Ok, I can fix that. (It's a 1.8 MB quicktime mov showing window fade-ins and outs in Xcode behind that link).

That was a fun little hack to do- too bad it only works for Cocoa apps :)

Did I mention I love the Objective-C runtime? I do. Anyway, what I did was patched/swizzled a couple of methods in NSWindow to make this happen, just like I did for my previous "Edit in BBEdit" menu option for Safari. Super fun. Of course, it's not perfect either. Sheets act weird.. and I've only played with it for a little bit so I'm sure there's more bad things going on that I don't know about.

Ok, here's the final "I like it in here and I don't want to come out kiddo" update. Mr. Augustine Glenn Lloyd was born.. um.. just a little while ago. Dave says he's 10 lbs, 2 ounces. Leonie and Augie will be stuck in the hospital till the weekend it looks like, but Dave says they are both fine.

I'm sure Dave will have pictures and the story behind the middle name up on his site once things settle down a little more. I guess now he'll even have some content to put up :)

Congrats Dave and Leonie, and I hope the kid likes Mexican food. ( It is May 5 after all...)
