(This post is from my old, old, super old site. My views have changed over the years, hopefully my writing has improved, and there is now more than a handful of folks reading my site. Enjoy.)

Congrats to Brent who won another Eddy award for NetNewsWire. When I was over at his house a while back I got to see his previous award, hold it even. The sucker is heavy!

And congrats to the folks at Panic, Delicious Monster, Bare Bones, and Plasq. They all won Eddy awards as well.

Act 1 Scene 1. Location: Flying Meat World Headquarters. Aka, Gus's basement.

Gus is busily typing away on something, and Kirstin is just in the other room just having gotten home from work and doing something or another.

Gus: You want some music? Kirstin: Sure.

Gus launches GarageBand. Gus begins to panic because GarageBand is taking it's sweet time to launch, and fears Kirstin will catch on. ... GarageBand finally finishes launching. Gus starts a track he had prepared for this very moment and moves to his (music) keyboard to begin playing in the key of F. The music sounds like random crap to the untrained ear.

Kirstin: ... Gus: You like?! Kirstin: You don't do this all day long, do you? Gus: ... Kirstin: You're supposed to be working! Gus: Screw that, I'm an artist. I mean.. I've got wings, I've gotta fly, you can't keep this bird caged, etc...

Mail.app makes the "new mail" chime in the background.

Gus: Oh, another sale!

Kirstin sighs.

And that's what it's like to be an independent developer for the Macintosh™!
