(This post is from my old, old, super old site. My views have changed over the years, hopefully my writing has improved, and there is now more than a handful of folks reading my site. Enjoy.)

It's starting to get crowded outside of work today. At first glance you would think that it was because of the 62° weather, blue sky, and knowing that tomorrow is Friday and following that is Saturday hurray! But then if you looked a little closer you might notice the 40 foot tall sign staring you in the face that reads "Final Four". And as you turn your head you see smaller versions of that sign plastered all along the walls of buildings, and banners atop the street lights. And then you remember, "Oh yea, that's taking place in the Edwards Jones Dome in two days, isn't it?". Which is exactly one block away from where I'm currently sitting.

Fans are starting to come in, and some basketball players as well (I'm pretty sure they are anyway). A restaurant is opening up on the ground floor of our building ust for this event, along with two shops where you can buy official final four gear as well. Other buildings are doing likewise. Money Money Money!

I've never seen the sidewalks so clean, and the white street lines so bright. They even went so far as to open up the mall doors on the north east side (across the street, and which were closed because of loitering and gang activity). I hope they manage to clean everything up just as fast next week when it's all over.

Go Illinois!
